Pakistan hockey team returned home, received a wonderful welcome at Lahore Airport – Sports

The silver medalist national hockey team, which performed brilliantly in the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, reached Lahore from Malaysia, while the Pakistan team was warmly welcomed at the airport.

Pakistan Hockey Team reached Pakistan following participating in Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Malaysia.

The flight of the national team landed at Allama Iqbal Airport, where Prime Minister Youth Program Chairman Rana Mashhood and other officials gave a grand welcome to the team.

Chairman Prime Minister Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmed said that the future of Pakistan’s hockey is getting bright once more, the team was selected on the basis of merit, the Prime Minister will announce the prizes for the hockey team.

He further said that Azlan Shah is grateful to the Minister of Information for showing the final match of hockey tournament live, the government will work for the promotion of hockey in the future.

On this occasion, the captain of the hockey team, Imad Butt, said that he is very happy with the performance of the team, he is grateful to the Prime Minister and the Sports Board for their encouragement, a time will come when this team will bring the World Cup.

It should be remembered that in the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup played in Malaysia, Pakistan was undefeated in the pool round, the team won 3 matches and drew 2 in the entire event and qualified for the final following 13 years.

The final match of Azlan Shah Hockey Cup was played between Pakistan and Japan in which Pakistan lost in penalty shootouts, the match was tied 2-2 and the match was decided on penalty shootouts.

The national hockey team won the silver medal in the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament.
