With a 62-51 win over Serres, Prometheus took 5th place in the final ranking of the Panhellenic Junior Championship, which continues at T9 Kostakion in Arta.
The team from Patras may have… pressed hard on the floor in the first minutes of the match (11-0, 2’40”), but the continuation was not comparable. Serres showed combativeness, came close (26-22, 15′) and finally took the lead 26-28 (16’40”) with Gialamas hitting the mark. The Achaeans started more aggressively in the second half to reach 40-32 (24’30”) with Soilemetzidis and Prekas. An individual 11-2 from the typical guests changed the image of the match once more with Gougousiadis writing 42-43 at the end of the third period.
Prekas’ three-pointer put the Achaeans in the lead once more (47-45, 32′) and seven consecutive points from Soilemetzidis made it 54-48 (34’20”). Prekas with a coast to coast sent the difference to +12 (60-48, 37’10”) with Prometheus sealing the victory with the final 62-51.

Statements
Vassilis Skropolithas (coach Promethea): “We wanted something more, we came with some expectations. We quickly realized that we cannot claim them. The next goal was the two wins in the last games. We did it. The kids are fine. We had some mishaps, but nothing serious. We are also interested in the health of our athletes. We continue to see what we did wrong and what we did right, to do the checkout at the end to see what we accomplished and what we didn’t. We have good intervals, we don’t have good performances. These were not good appearances for Prometheus. We have very bad intervals and we are called to change this ahead of the new year. Good luck to the children who give Panhellenic, the children have made a lot of sacrifices, they have put in a lot of effort.”
Nikos Kyrikos (coach of Serres): “Maybe we were afraid of the game where we shouldn’t have been, it spoiled our minds where we should have been focused. It was a very nice game. I thank my children for the effort they made and I want to wish good success for the children who give Panhellenic and do the best they can. In Serres, we have been trying for years as Panserraikos and AES to reach the final stages. Now it starts with Panserraikos in the provincial competition so that the boys can go to the final phase. We are trying as much as we can to go up even more.”
