“Silver Cranes” nominees announced: the best films and creators will compete in 19 categories | Culture

This year, 66 films were submitted for evaluation by the commission – one more than last year.

Among the most frequently mentioned contenders in different categories are director Marija Kavtaradze’s film “You don’t remember anything to me”, Deimantas Narkevičius’ film “Chiulbanti siela” and Tomas Vengris’ “5 ½ love stories in one Vilnius apartment”.

The selection committee consisted of 11 professionals from the film industry: chairman of the committee, film critic, film programmer Ieva Šukytė, cameraman Laura Aliukonytė, producer, director Saulius Beržinis, actress Aušra Giedraitytė, director, cameraman Ramūnas Greičius, film critic Santa Lingevičiūtė, producer Emilija Sluškonytė, producer Arūnas Stoškus, director Gediminas Šiaulys, film researcher (assistant professor at Vilnius University; researcher at the Lithuanian Cultural Research Institute) Renata Šukaitytė-Coenen and director Romas Zabarauskas.

“This year, the commission reviewed as many as 66 films in a month and a half. It is good that the commission was made up of representatives of different professions, whose insights and opinions complemented each other. Although more heated discussions took place regarding the nominations in certain categories, the work went smoothly, and we are happy with the jointly adopted decision”, says I. Šukytė, chairwoman of the commission, film critic, film program organizer.

This year, “Silver Cranes” will be awarded to Lithuanian filmmakers for the fifteenth time.
