Deficiencies in welding and other findings in Conred report for improvised stands for the end of Mixco and Municipal – 2024-05-12 07:10:40

The institution points out in its report that during the tour it was accompanied by Mario Zabala, head of the Legal Department of the local government, and Walter Marroquín, head of security for the commune.

Findings

The Conred Mitigation Directorate concluded that in The newly installed stands show different deficiencies; Furthermore, it was possible to observe the use of wooden wedges and concrete that aim to level these.

“Due to the topography of the land that the stadium occupies, on one side there is a difference in level, compared to the street; which led to the formation of a platform for the leveling and placement of the structure for stands,” reads the Conred report.

Metal profiles and piles located at street level are some of the elements implemented in the structures of the stands.

Nor was the enabling of additional emergency exits considered, as part of the implementation and increase in capacity, the institution warns.

As part of the visit, Conred personnel determined that The stadium only has a means of evacuation for the fixed stands and a connection to the public road through the court.

  • Do not hold massive events in venues where evacuation capacity and safety standards are not met.
  • Fully comply with Disaster Reduction Standard Number Two (NRD2) in the stadium so that it has conditions for evacuation in accordance with the number of attendees.
  • Guarantee structural safety according to NRD one and three in case of remodeling, as capacity increases.
  • Apply NRD four, since public or sporting events can be held in the stadium.
