Both portfolios launched the “Early Pellet Purchase: For a Sustainable Winter” campaign, with the aim of inviting people to make an advance purchase of the energy, in a gradual and responsible manner, allowing “all consumers to have the peace of mind of purchasing the pellet at a price in line with the market,” said the Seremi of Energy, Dennis Rivas, to which he added that “in the region we have seen an increase in pellet production, from the emergence of new industries that are increasing the supply in the region and , in the process, adding value to the local forestry industry”
This promotion of the regional pellet industry has been supported by the Ministry of Energy, through the 2023 call for the Comprehensive Biomass Centers, which “allowed us to co-finance three medium-sized pellet industries, through machinery and training that have meant an even greater increase. of regional pellet supply, contributing to price regulation and directly benefiting the pockets of the families that use this energy in the region.”
From the Environment portfolio, Seremi Mario Rivas added that “the use of sustainable heating, such as pellets, to reduce pollution during the winter, especially during the Critical Episode Management period, which runs from April 1 to September 30, it is vitally important to take care of the health of our families. This is why from the Ministry of the Environment we have promoted the Heater Replacement Program, which includes pellet equipment. To date, 7,641 devices have been installed in the intercommune of Chillán and Chillán Viejo.”
He also explained that, from his portfolio, the presence of heating using pellets is being strengthened, which “not only represents a reduction in family spending, but also an important contribution to the decarbonization process.”
