Dr Dansa Kourouma highlighted the importance of sport in the daily lives of Guineans, saying that sport is not only a physical activity, but also an act of patriotism. “Sport is extremely important. There are some who believe that sport on a Saturday is a waste of time, on the contrary, it is an act of patriotism,” he said.
He also highlighted the health benefits of sport, emphasizing that “sport allows you to release negative energy, regenerate body cells, preserve health, free the mind and make room for the intellectual form for the week which is regarding to begin.”
Dr Dansa Kourouma encouraged all Guinean citizens to practice regular sporting activity, emphasizing the importance of walking to maintain good health. “I encourage all adults, young people, all elderly people in Guinea to walk, if not in a fitness room. You have to walk at least twice a week, 10 km, and if you can’t, walk at a normal pace,” he insisted.
In addition to the health benefits, Dr Dansa Kourouma highlighted the importance of sport for social mobilization. “Sport is also regarding mobilizing people. There are people here who took months to meet me due to time constraints, but this activity allows you to mix with all the citizens to also know and feel their concerns,” he explained.
Dr Dansa Kourouma recalled that this traditional citizen and sports day of the National Transition Council is a commitment to the health and productivity of state agents. “It’s a process that will continue. And we intend to leave it to the future institutions of the Republic which will be installed following the transition, because sport is part of life,” he said.
