Jerry Jones gives Dak Prescott all the confidence

The Cowboys are in no hurry to renew the contracts with stars Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas franchise, announced yesterday.

“We would all like this to happen faster, but sometimes time prevents you from making a mistake and I want to have more options,” said Jones, at a press conference related to the Draft, which begins tomorrow in Detroit.

Jones ruled out that his franchise, which has the 24th place to select in the first round of the Draft, is going to bid for a quarterback since it hopes to have Dak Prescott, a 30-year-old passer, for a long time, whose contract will end at end of the 2024 season.

“All I can say is that Dak is the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, I wouldn’t even bat an eyelid at that. We love Dak and we believe there is room for growth for him,” stressed Jones, who appeared with head coach Mike McCarthy.

Dallas’ offseason has been criticized for the few hires, only four, that it has made in free agency due to the budget being taken care of to have space in the salary cap to extend the contracts of the team’s three main stars; Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons.

Despite this, Jones said he is confident that the Cowboys will have a competitive squad for next season, which they will round out with the seven selections they have in the next NFL Draft.

The league draft will be in Detroit (Michigan) and will conclude on Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys have seven selections. One from the first round in 24th place, a selection from the second, third, fifth, sixth and two from the seventh.— EFE
