The story, which hit the national headlines in 2021, was reviewed in the Appeal
National and local news had spoken regarding the so-called “Mago Amedeo” several times. Several times he ended up at the center of events linked to invoices, spells and interpretations of dreams which, as ascertained by the Financial Police, would have cost many people tens of thousands of euros. Filippo Scardi is known in esoteric circles with various aliases (‘Maestro Filippo’, ‘Otello’, ‘Camillo Varzì’). One of the legal cases involving him came to light a few days ago. The same “magician”, in fact, was the protagonist in 2021 of a verbal and then physical clash with the financial broker Pierluigi Chieffi.
From that clash, which occurred in a bar in the port of Riccione, criminal proceedings arose which had its epilogue with the Court of Appeal of Bologna which established that the furrow on the left cheek of Scardi, alias the magician Amedeo, was not a permanent disfigurement. The judges of second instance have in fact excluded that Chieffi, defended by the lawyers Nunzia Barzan and Marlon Lepera with the advice of the criminalist Davide Barzan, caused permanent damage to the ”magician Amedeo” on 13 May 2021. That day, in fact, it was an altercation between the two, which took place at the bar in the Port of Riccione. The owner of the restaurant raised the alarm. A patrol of the Riccione Carabinieri intervened on the spot and the soldiers immediately set to work to reconstruct what had happened. The dispute, according to what emerged, arose from an argument over trivial reasons.
In recent days, however, in accepting the defense arguments of the Defense Lawyers, the Court of Appeal of Bologna ruled out that the mark on the left side of Filippo Scardi’s face constitutes a permanent disfigurement. This sign, according to the Court, did not compromise the offended person’s perception of himself. Therefore, it reclassified the facts as injuries aggravated by the use of the criminal weapon, recalculating the sentence as 3 years and six months of imprisonment. In the first instance, Chieffi was sentenced, precisely because he was held responsible for the crime of permanent disfigurement, to a sentence of 5 years and 4 months in prison. A type of crime which was introduced in Italy following the tragic attack on Gessica Notaro and which would have entailed a much greater punishment, up to 14 years in prison. The Court, however, also revoked the compensation for damages, equal to 40 thousand euros paid to Scardi Filippo (defended by the lawyer Stefano Caroli), awarding him a provisional amount of 20 thousand euros.
