Asunción, IP Agency.- The presence of Paraguayan meat, both beef and pork, increases in the international market. Taiwan stands out as the main recipient of pork, while Israel emerges as an important market for beef, according to official data.
The March report from the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa) indicates that bovine and pork meats show an uptick in their shipment numbers in the international market so far this year. Taiwan and Israel become important receiving destinations for pork and beef products in 2024.
With respect to the Asian country, the Republic of China (Taiwan) is the first shipping destination for Paraguayan pork, which showed exponential growth of more than 500% in 2023, both in volume and values.
In the first quarter of this year, Taiwan imported 2,436,030 kilos of pork, worth more than USD 7 million. It should be noted that pork protein exports to the Asian country constitute 90% of the total national pork meat sent abroad in these first four months of 2024.
Likewise, this protein is destined for Uruguay, which at the end of April imported a total of 472,981 kilograms, which reached a total of USD 768,314. While Georgia and Brazil are to a lesser extent.
Beef is also conquering new markets and gaining territory in some countries. In this sense, the national red protein showed a rebound in Taiwan.
According to the Senacsa report, the Asian country in the first four months of the year imported a total of 8,458,506 kilos of pork, for an amount of USD 37 million. With this, the Taiwanese market is consolidated as the second main market for this protein in terms of volume.
By 2024, it is expected to reach a record export figure for Paraguayan red protein to the Taiwanese market.
Taiwan is the third largest market for Paraguayan beef offal, since at the end of April this year it was exported for more than USD 1 million, regarding 652,168 kilos.
All these positive data on the commercial exchange between Paraguay and Taiwan demonstrate the great dynamism of our commercial exchange, strengthening our solid relations between both nations.
It is important to highlight the presence of beef in the Middle East, since, since the second half of last year, shipments of Paraguayan red protein to this market were increased.
Such is the case of Israel, which is the fourth destination market for national beef. According to Senacsa, in the first four months of the year a total of 7,179,246 kilos were shipped for a value of USD 36 million.
