Asphalt connection between Canindeyú and San Pedro exceeds 50% progress

Asunción, IP Agency.- With progress that exceeds 50%, the construction tasks of the asphalt road that will link the Luz Bella neighborhood, in the Guayaibí district, in the department of San Pedro, and the city of Maracaná, in Canindeyú, are gaining strength. It will benefit 30,000 people who reside in this region of the country.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) states that the improvement of this type of roads is crucial to increase connectivity and facilitate access to basic services in these communities.

Furthermore, by joining the new road to the national road network, the population will be able to transport their local production to the main consumer markets.

The construction manager of the contractor WHEEL.CO SA, Miguel Martínez, highlighted the economic importance of the area, mainly focused on agriculture and livestock. “In this sector, a lot of cassava is grown, there is dairy production and also livestock production. “It is an area in full development,” said the professional.

The route, whose asphalt paving works are in full development, starts from the city of Maracaná, passing through numerous productive communities in the department of Canindeyú until reaching the San Pedro neighborhood, already within the second department of the country.

About the work

Regarding the characteristics of the new route, it was specified that the road will have a width of 7 meters and an asphalt layer 5 cm thick, while the shoulders will have 1.5 meters on each side, composed of a layer of 3 cm asphalt.

In addition, the project provides for the installation of vertical and horizontal signage, reflective studs and studs, metal defense railings, ditch curbs, plastering, as well as the construction of 2 new reinforced concrete bridges.

The construction company in charge is Wheel.Co SA, which has an execution period of 18 months to complete the work, while the inspection is carried out by the consulting firm Guaraní SA

The road project will require an investment of G. 54,875,917,365, financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the Development Bank (Fonplata).
