Mohamed Al-Glousi, President of the Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money, revealed that the annual cost of corruption in Morocco reaches 50 billion dirhams, which threatens the state and society.

Al-Ghallusi confirmed in a post on his official Facebook account that Morocco lives under the influence of contradictions because only 10% of Moroccans own 63% of the wealth, while 4.3 million young men and women are out of school and do not work.

The lawyer and human rights activist recorded that Morocco ranks 97th globally out of 180 countries on the Corruption Perception Index, and 123rd on the human development level, asking, “Where is Morocco heading and what has been prepared for future generations?”

In a related context, Al-Ghalousi stressed the need to confront the reality of corruption by developing an effective legal arsenal to confront illicit enrichment and the plundering of public money. He also stressed the need to mobilize all efforts to confront the imminent danger represented by corruption, as he put it.

The same speaker concluded that Moroccans aspire to criminalize illicit enrichment and conflicts of interest, and they also want to prosecute thieves of public funds and recover the stolen funds.

In another context, the president of the association directed his criticism at the parties that came out to defend the “rents” of studies, stating that “not long ago, political parties were a school of supervision, training, education, and defense of democracy, human rights, and public freedoms, but today everything has changed and we have seen parties competing over the rents.” And bribery.”

The same speaker accused the aforementioned parties of “selling endorsements and transferring public money to close associates under the name of studies and research deals,” in exchange for “their refusal to return public funds to the state treasury,” according to his blog post.
