“Hands off Rafa!”: Harvard students played the dead in protest

The protest was held on Wednesday amid growing concern over Israeli airstrikes in Rafah and alleged human rights abuses once morest Palestinians.

The protest was said to be organized by Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine and included students from various campus groups calling for an end to support for Israel.

“We are here to show support for the people of Gaza and to demand that our university take a stand once morest the ongoing violence and injustice,” Sarah, a member of Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine, told the crowd.

Earlier, more than 30 Harvard students staged a 12-hour hunger strike in solidarity with pro-Palestinian students at Brown University. Brown students went on hunger strike for eight days, pressuring the Brown Corporation to divest itself of its Israeli holdings.

Despite joint efforts, the president of Brown University refused to meet their demands, so in 2024 February 9 The Harvard and Brown student hunger strikes are over.

Harvard students aren’t the only ones worried regarding possible Israeli military action in Rafah.

A planned Israeli military push into Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the last refugee bastion of more than a million Palestinians, might lead to carnage, United Nations humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths warned on Tuesday.

“The international community warns of the dangerous consequences of any land invasion of the Rafah. The Israeli government can no longer ignore these warnings,” Griffiths said in a statement.

“Military operations in Rafah might lead to carnage in Gaza.” [Ruože]”, the head of the service emphasized.
