Austria is in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest

The rave continues: Austria’s this year’s ESC hope Kaleen secured her place in the final round in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. The 29-year-old managed to get one of the coveted ten final tickets with her techno-tinged number “We Will Rave”. As in the previous year, the final of the world’s largest music competition will now take place on Saturday (May 11th) with Austrian participation.

Where Kaleen was placed in the semi-finals will not be announced until following the final. In any case, as expected, Nemo from Switzerland also got his ticket to the final with “The Code”. With their musical bombast, the non-binary act has long been considered by bookmakers as one of the possible favorites for overall victory. The same also applies to the Dutchman Joost Klein, who was logically chosen with his serious fun number “Europapa”, as was the Armenian duo Ladaniva with the upbeat folklore pop song “Jako”.

Demonstration once morest Israel’s approval

The Israeli singer Eden Golan is also next with “Hurricane”. There was a lot of attention on the 20-year-old, not least because numerous protest events took place in Malmö during the ESC week once morest Israel’s admission to the competition despite the Gaza war. This also included a demonstration in the followingnoon with thousands of participants, including “Fridays for Future” icon Greta Thunberg. Now Eden Golan will also be taking part in the final on Saturday – and the next demonstration has been announced in downtown Malmö.

OÖN-TV asked around in Linz regarding the song contest:

Other newcomers included the Norwegian mythical rock group Gåte, which prevailed in the neighboring country with “Ulveham” as well as the longest title in ESC history, “(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi” by the Estonians 5Miinust & Puuluup, which was the Audience obviously liked it. For the second time this year, expert juries are not allowed to take part in the semi-finals. They will only have a say in the finale.

Like Kaleen with four dancers in the background, Marina Satti achieved today’s rise for Greece with “Zari” as did Georgia’s Nutsa Buzaladze with “Fire Fighter”. However, the Latvian Dons had to prove himself all alone on stage with the languid ballad “Hollow”, who won in the style of a member of the Blue Man Group without blue paint on his face.

Meanwhile, Besa, who was unable to attract enough votes with her mixture of headscarf and ESC ballad, just as Malta’s Sarah Bonnici, whose four background dancers apparently had no luck, has to travel home to Albania. Incomprehensibly, Czech Republic’s Aiko was also unable to secure a ticket to the final with her ambitious indie rock song “Pedestal”.

Party is over, however, was surprisingly the motto for Mustii from Belgium with his glam rock “Before The Party’s Over”. Likewise, the suffering of Denmark Saba, which was shouted out so much, didn’t help, whose “sand” made the hope for the final trickle through her fingers like sand. And finally, the horror bunnies and their gothic comic story didn’t help the Megara formation from San Marino, as the representatives of the monastic republic failed in the end.
