Neringa is preparing for the construction of the Juodkrantė passenger ship port – the technical project is currently being prepared and the geological works required for the design are being carried out.
On Monday morning, residents of Juodkrantė saw heavy machinery in the lagoon. There were also those who were outraged by the “visual pollution” under the windows.
At that time, the municipality of Neringa, the new territory of Juodkrantė passenger ship port was designed according to the concept of the architectural competition “New Shore” held in 2007, which was prepared by G. Janulytė-Bernotienė’s studio, which won the competition.
The port area will be developed to the north of the existing Juodkrantė passenger ship pier – the new pier is designed as an island, its size will be analogous to the current historical Juodkrantė passenger ship pier. Both piers will be connected by the harbor water area.
The port area is being designed once morest the background of a block of new buildings, so it is said that the new port building being designed will not cover the most valuable old buildings of the Juodkrantė settlement – the school, Kurhaus, villa “Flora”.
In the territory, it is planned to create not only the infrastructure necessary for the port, but also an open public space with a large terrace (from which the panorama of the Curonian Lagoon will open), greenery and other recreational elements of the environment.
