Tragic Kayaking Accident: 54-Year-Old Czech Man Dies in Whitewater Rescue Operation

A dramatic rescue operation for a 54-year-old Czech man was ultimately unsuccessful.

There was a fatal kayaking accident on Thursday followingnoon Weißenbach am Attersee came. A 54-year-old Czech citizen was on a whitewater kayak trip along the Gimbachs pulled under water and held there by the suction for several minutes.

Also the white water powers of the Austrian water rescuewho at the time were special operations forces undergoing training in the Traun at Wilden Lauffen near Bad Ischl were called to the scene 20 kilometers away.

There, following initial treatment, the seriously injured man was taken to hospital by the emergency medical helicopter team with ongoing resuscitation Kepler University Hospital flew to Linz. The man died there shortly following arrival.
