Thessaloniki: The well-known sportswriter Nikos Tzantsaras has died – 2024-05-09 18:36:04

Today, Tuesday, May 7, the journalist, Nikos Tzanzaras, passed away at the age of 54, following a brave battle with cancer.

The sad event was confirmed by his longtime colleague, Dimitris Manousis, in a post on social media.

“Nico, my Nico. Where do I dive to find the words to say what I feel? We were together for life, you left, you fought like a beast. Niko, my Niko, my friend, my partner, my brother, I know you don’t want tears. I will also collect the ones that are running now. With these I will wash away the memories, good luck my Nikos…”, says D. Manousis.

Nikos Tzantsaras was born in 1970 in Thessaloniki.

He started journalism in 1986 as a “pirate”, he first worked at “Radio Thessaloniki” and later at Athletic Macedonia Thrace, Athletic Metropolis, Municipal Radio Kalamaria, Metrosport, Omega TV, Alpha TV, Helio ton Spor, Libero, Arena FM, City of Primo and a host of websites.

His funeral will be held next Thursday in Plagiari, Thessaloniki.

The well-known sportswriter, in 2022, had himself made public the fact that he was suffering from a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

A few months later, in February 2023, he underwent a long surgery, for which he even publicly thanked Ivan Savvidis.
