A metal music group from Garut, Voice of Baceprot (VoB), made history by becoming the first Indonesian band to perform at a music and performing arts festival in the world’s largest green field, the Glastonbury Festival.
This festival will be held for 5 days, from 26-30 June 2024 in Pilton, Somerset, England. VoB will also appear on one of the four main stages at this Festival, namely the Woodsies Main Stage.
During their visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, VoB personnel Firdda Marsya Kurnia (guitarist and vocalist), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Sitti (drummer) asked for support from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, so that they might perform at the most prestigious music festival in the world.
“We are an Indie band, we do whatever we do ourselves, we hope that the Ministry of Youth and Sports can support us so that we can continue to work and make music to bring Indonesia’s name to the world stage,” said the vocalist as quoted from the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ statement, Thursday (2/5).
Responding to this, Dito stated that he was willing to help these 3 alumnus of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Baqiyatusso seen in Garut, West Java enter the international music industry.
“I used to be a drummer too, in my days I liked listening to music from System of a Down to d’Masiv, I like all genres of music, including your band. “I want you to just focus on your work, making the nation proud on the world stage, with other matters the Ministry of Youth and Sports can help,” stressed Dito.
At the same time, the Minister of Youth and Sports explained that his ministry is currently providing a wide space for various performing arts communities involved in the local scene, from music, dance, theater to film through the Achievement Party program which is held once a month on the grounds of the Ministry of Youth and Sports office.
“So the Ministry of Youth and Sports is not just an office, but a hangout place for young artists to develop their potential, showcase their talents, a space for expression and collaboration. “That’s why we are collaborating with the Pesta Pora Festival to provide a stage for new generation musicians,” said Dito.
