Israel – Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, following a post in which he wrote that “the Palestinian faction movement” loves Biden.”
Lapid said in a post on the “X” platform: “If Netanyahu does not expel Ben Gvir today, he will endanger every soldier in the Israeli army and every citizen of the State of Israel.”
Ben Gvir responded to US President Joe Biden’s threat to stop supplying weapons to Tel Aviv in the event of a complete incursion into Rafah, and wrote in a post on the “X” platform: “The faction movement loves Biden.”
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Washington is considering suspending other military supplies to Israel following temporarily halting the transfer of a shipment of heavy ammunition to Tel Aviv.
On Wednesday, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed the temporary suspension of arms shipments of heavy ammunition to Israel, due to disagreements and controversy with Tel Aviv over the invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
US President Joe Biden is under pressure from members within his party to set conditions on aid to Israel following the latter refused to allow aid to enter Gaza.
Israeli forces entered the city of Rafah at dawn on Tuesday following Tel Aviv announced that the truce offer presented by the faction movement did not meet its demands, while the United Nations warned that an Israeli invasion of the city of Rafah would be “unbearable.”
