Security forces thwarted an armed terrorist attack on the Naval Air Base near Turbat in Balochistan late last night, during which the area was rocked by gunshots and explosions. The armed men attacked from 3 sides of the airport but the security forces responded quickly and foiled the infiltration attempt.
Makran Commissioner Saeed Ahmad Imrani while talking to private TV said that heavy firing and explosions were reported from around Turbat Airport.

He, however, did not provide any figures on casualties during the incident, saying that no casualties or injuries had been brought to the district hospital by the time the newspaper went to press.
It is being told that the target of the attack was ‘PNS Siddique’ which is one of the largest naval air stations in the country.
Security officials said last night that the security of the airport was ensured by killing 6 terrorists outside the limits of Turbat Airport.
He further informed that the Special Operations Wing of the FC and the Special Services Group of the Navy successfully stopped the terrorists from infiltrating, and there were no reports of damage to sensitive naval installations.
Locals said more than a dozen explosions were heard in Turbat city, with the firing starting at around 10 pm and continuing late into the night.
The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that its Majeed Brigade was behind the attack, however, the Pakistan Army’s Public Relations Department (ISPR) denied the news until it was sent to the newspaper for publication. No official statement has been issued by the Government of Balochistan in this regard.
