The Coordinating MINISTRY for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) said the government is currently drafting a Government Regulation (PP) regarding athletes’ awards and pension funds.
“Our government is currently drafting a PP regarding awards for sports people, now the process is at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), in the not too distant future it will be promulgated,” said Assistant Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Coordinating Ministry for PMK Budi Prasetyo in Central Jakarta , Monday (6/5).
The contents of the PP in question will also provide financial management training before being given a bonus. Meanwhile, the amount of funds provided is still being debated.
“The government is aware that Indonesia’s bonus from this Olympics is actually one of the largest compared to Japan and South Korea, but it is given directly, so that people who can’t or aren’t good at managing it usually end up running out of Rp. 3.5 billion quickly, but when the money runs out “When they get older and they don’t work, it’s hard for them to live,” he said.
“Even for Olympians, there is a possibility that they will be given money like a pension fund, but the value is still being debated and cannot be determined with certainty, especially for Olympians who will be given pension money like veterans,” he concluded. (Z-6)
