Soccer: Real Madrid are league champions with four rounds to go

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid earlier on Saturday defeated Cadíz at home with 3-0.

– We will be champions. It doesn’t matter if it’s today or some other time. We deserved the league victory, Ancelotti said following the victory.

And it only took a few hours. Because when Barcelona lost once morest the surprise team Girona, it was clear that no team will be able to catch up, despite four rounds left to play.

New signings Jude Bellingham (18 goals) and Vinicius Junior (13 goals) have been key in Real Madrid’s run to the title, which has so far only contained one defeat.

Real Madrid has also continued to hang on to the Champions League title following playing 2-2 in the first semi-final once morest Bayern Munich. The return meeting is on Wednesday.

– There will be a time to celebrate, but right now we have to focus on Wednesday’s game. It is a fantastic opportunity to end a spectacular season, says Ancelotti.

As well as deciding the title race, Girona’s victory once morest Barcelona also meant that the former have secured a Champions League spot for the first time ever.
