Industrial output in Latvia increased in March (GRAPHIC)

Production volumes in the manufacturing industry decreased by 1%, in electricity and gas supply there was an increase of 3.2%, and in the mining and quarrying industry – by 25.8%.

Production output decreased the most in furniture production – by 23.3%. The decline in the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers was 18.7%, computers, electronic and optical equipment – 15.9%, clothing – 13.8%, and in printing and record reproduction – 4.6%. In one of the three largest manufacturing industries by share – the production of finished metal products, except machinery and equipment – the decline was 12.4%.

An increase in the volume of industrial products was noted in the field of repair and installation of equipment and devices – by 33.1%, in the production of chemicals and chemical products – by 13.3%, drinks – by 8.2%, textile products – by 7.5% . Growth was also observed in two of the three largest manufacturing industries by share – in food production (+0.9%) and in the production of wood and wood products (+1.7%).

In March of this year, compared to February, the volume of industrial production, according to seasonally adjusted data, in comparative prices decreased by 0.5%.

An increase in volumes was registered in the manufacturing industry – by 1.6%, a decline was in electricity and gas supply – by 7%, as well as in the mining industry and quarrying – by 1.6%.

In March, compared to March 2023, the turnover of the manufacturing industry, according to calendar-adjusted data, in actual prices decreased by 5.3%. Turnover in the local market decreased by 4.3%, in the export market – by 5.7%, including in the eurozone – by 3.7%, outside the eurozone – by 7.3%.

Compared to February this year, manufacturing turnover, according to seasonally adjusted data, decreased by 0.1%. In the local market, turnover decreased by 2%, in the export market there was an increase of 0.9%, including a decline of 0.4% in the eurozone, and an increase of 2.1% outside the eurozone.
