Russia launched an air strike on energy infrastructure facilities in the Sumy region, the Sumy Regional Military Administration (OVA) reported on Telegram on the night of Monday, May 6.

As the head of the Sumy OVA Alexey Drozdenko wrote, in connection with the massive drone attack, critical infrastructure facilities in Sumy were transferred to backup power. “Water supply and hospitals will be provided with full backup power,” his post says.

The online publication Suspilne reported, citing its correspondents, that the sounds of explosions were heard in Sumy on the night of May 6. In addition, in this city, as well as in Lebedin, Belopolye and Akhtyrka, Sumy region, the light partially disappeared.

On the evening of May 5, the Sumy OVA reported that during the day Russia carried out 8 attacks on border areas and settlements in the region. “The Khotinskaya, Yunakovskaya, Belopolskaya, Krasnopolskaya, Velikopisarevskaya, Esmanskaya communities came under fire,” the post said.

Russian strikes on Kharkov

Earlier, on the followingnoon of May 5, the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, reported on Telegram that Russia had struck the central part of the city. According to him, five people were wounded as a result of this attack. Later, Terekhov reported that two more victims had been hit in a private house.

In turn, the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov, clarified that Russia dropped three aerial bombs on the center of Kharkov. At the same time, more than 15 apartment buildings, private houses, cars, a non-working sports complex, and office buildings were damaged, according to the message. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, 15 people were injured. At least four victims were taken to hospital.
