MEMBER of Commission II DPR RI Guspardi Gaus said that the Indonesian Ombudsman’s proposal regarding postponing the selection of candidates for the 2024 state civil service (CASN) until the completion of the regional head elections (Pilkada) needed to be studied.
Commission II will ask this matter to the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-Rebiro) and the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) at a public hearing (RDP) later.
“The proposal to postpone is legal. Of course the government, in this case BKN, Kemenpan, will carry out a study of the proposal submitted. Whether the proposal will have an impact, then what kind of response if not,” said Guspardi when contacted, Friday (3 /5).
He explained that so far the authority for the CASN selection process has been carried out by the central government. If there is no influence, including concerns regarding the political promises of Pilkada participants, then there is no reason to postpone the CASN selection.
“But we will return it to the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform and BKN to analyze and review the proposal. After the recess is scheduled for the RDP, I will also ask regarding the proposal to confirm and eliminate the concerns expressed by the Ombudsman,” he said.
Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Mokhammad Najih, suggested that this year’s CASN selection be postponed until the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections had been held. He said there were concerns that the momentum for the selection would become part of political promises during the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. (Z_8)
