The president of the Supreme Court and the Judicial Council, Horacio Rosatti, highlighted this Monday the management of the national government to launch the Accusatory Code in Rosario to combat drug trafficking.

During the launch of the initiative, held at the National University of Rosario, Rosatti highlighted that “There is great merit to the National Government because he took an issue that was delayed, delayed, and brought it forward.”

“We all understood that if we do not set a starting point this might drag on as things so often drag on in Argentina. And today we are here with the process underway”, he highlighted.

Authoritarians don’t like this

The practice of professional and critical journalism is a fundamental pillar of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe they are the owners of the truth.

Due to the drug crisis, Cúneo Libarona ordered the entry into force of the Criminal Procedure Code in Rosario

The president of the Court recognized that the implementation of the Accusatory Code “is a starting point, of course, it is not an arrival point. But it seems like a very good starting point to me.”

“Will this solve all the problems? No, but from the point of view of the judicial system I think that there is a lot that will be improved, there is a lot that we can improve,” she reflected.

This Monday Rosatti led the meeting of the Interinstitutional Advisory Council of the Federal Criminal Procedure Reformin the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law of the National University of Rosario.

Rosatti on drug trafficking: “Indifference was not neutrality but rather complicity”

“Two years ago (at the National Meeting of Federal Justice) in the face of the problem of organized crime, focusing on Rosario and its area of influence, we said that indifference was not neutrality but rather complicity and that we wanted to know which side each one was on,” he stressed.

“We are much better prepared than a few months ago,” he added.

The new Code will mean, according to the judge, “more speed, more transparency, more simplicity in the procedures, less bureaucracy, orality, the principle of opportunity, the possibility of composing before reaching a process with tools that are already in force, but now they can be combined to be much more effective, such as the figure of the repentant, the undercover agent, the infiltrated, to combat the scourge of organized crime.”
