Pakistan: At least 20 dead in a bus accident PHOTOS – 2024-05-06 19:20:49

A tragic accident took place in northern Pakistan, where a bus carrying passengers plunged into a gorge of the Indus River, killing at least 20 people.

The bus was running from Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, and Gilgit.

“Twenty people were killed and 21 injured in the accident,” Azmat Shah, a local police officer, told AFP.

According to the protothema, the driver lost control of the vehicle at a bend and the bus fell into the Indus River Gorge, he explained. Among the injured, five are in critical condition and need to be shifted to Gilgit, the police officer said.

Fatal road accidents are a frequent phenomenon in Pakistanwhere drivers rarely obey the road traffic code while roads in many rural areas are in poor condition.
