Asunción, IP Agency.- As part of its commitment to regional development, the current administration of the Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY) invested some 30,000 million guaraníes in the department of Itapúa, in its first eight months of management.
This was reported by the Paraguayan financial chief of the EBY, Federico Vergara, during a press conference in which he highlighted the efforts made under the direction of Luís Benítez, in a challenging period for the institution, due to the lack of economic resources.
“We are making a great effort, but the will is not enough without the necessary financial resources, so following the guidelines of our director Benítez, we are doing true financial engineering, in order to be able to meet the needs of the department, prioritizing the urgent and most necessary ones. attention,” said Vergara, emphasizing the difficulties faced in meeting all social expectations.
Contributions for education, health and social well-being
Among the disbursements made, the EBY reported a series of notable investments in the education, health and social welfare sector, adding a total of 21,794 million guaraníes invested exclusively in Itapúa from August 16 to date.
This includes scholarship programs, support for fishermen, year-end bonuses, as well as improvements in health infrastructure and drinking water projects, as indicated by the Binacional.
The contribution in education, with the renewal of the scholarship program for the year 2024, contemplates an investment of 5,508 million guaraníes, cooperating closely with the government of Itapúa.
Likewise, audits and approvals are being finalized to ensure the legitimacy and correct application of funds in other pending programs.
Additionally, infrastructure works such as the repair of cobblestones and the execution of drinking water systems are underway. These are part of an investment of 837 million guaraníes that is especially intended to improve the quality of life of residents of various communities within the department.
In a broader scope, EBY has allocated more than 3.5 billion guaraníes in works certificates despite financial restrictions, demonstrating a continuous effort to meet its regional obligations and commitments.
On the other hand, Vergara expressed the importance of being accountable to the citizens regarding the efforts carried out by Luís Benítez, Paraguayan director of the EBY, because this makes it possible for the citizens to be well informed regarding the efforts and achievements of the binational, thus avoiding misunderstandings. or misinformation.
