In the 2024 session, the exhibition presented more than 2,000 activities covering various cultural and cognitive fields, and Egypt, the guest country of honor this year, presented a rich program of events, seminars, dialogue sessions and performances that aroused public interest and admiration. A rich program of events was dedicated to the late international writer Naguib Mahfouz, the central figure of the 33rd session of the exhibition, which is the first time that the Abu Dhabi Bookstore has chosen an Arab country as guest of honor and chosen the central character of the country itself.

This year, the exhibition created distinct experiences, including “The Wall of Azbakeya”, which imitates the idea of ​​the ancient and ancient Azbakeya Wall in Egypt, considered one of the most popular book markets oldest and most famous. go back a century.

This year, the exhibition saw the participation of 1,350 publishers from 90 countries, including 140 houses which participated for the first time, and more than 375 local exhibitors distributed between publishers, distributors and government agencies who presented their latest publications. The exhibition also recorded the participation of 12 countries in the event for the first time during this year’s session: Greece, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Pakistan, Cyprus, Mozambique, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Brazil.

China presented a qualitative participation this year with nine pavilions, making it the largest book fair in the world. The participating official Chinese pavilion included 70 guests representing 80 Chinese publishing houses and agencies. The pavilion also presented 15 cultural, professional, and artistic events. India participated with 23 publishing houses, in addition to a diverse program.
