PDIP ensures that supervision of the government will remain effective while they are part of the opposition. This is based on their 10 years of experience as an opposition during the administration of the 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
“We see that our advantage of being outside the government is the ability to ensure that the government oversight system remains effective,” said Masinton Pasaribu, a politician from the PDIP, in a virtual discussion with the theme ‘Democracy Without Opposition’, on Saturday, May 4 2024.
Masinton explained that the existence of the opposition is very important because it provides good political education to the community.
“The opposition provides the public with a choice of views presented by both the government and those outside the government,” he explained.
Despite this, Masinton stated that PDIP had not yet made a decision whether to become part of the government or remain outside. Their political stance will be announced to the public following the PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas). (Z-10)
