The administration of the local prison “Ain Sebaa 1” in Casablanca denied what was circulated on some websites regarding the prisoner (A.K.) being subjected to “an attempt at physical liquidation at the hands of parties outside the institution,” “beatings in front of the administration and employees,” and “preventing him from Treatment and removal to the hospital,” as well as “his willingness to go on a hunger strike.”
The prison institution explained, in an explanatory statement, that the aforementioned prisoner, on March 2, 2024, exchanged insults with another prisoner, and then the matter developed into a case of the latter punching the person concerned, which caused him bruises on the neck and jaw, highlighting that The institution’s administration intervened as soon as it became aware of the incident, taking appropriate disciplinary measures once morest the aggressor prisoner, and also provided the assaulted with the necessary treatment.
The same source added that, on April 4, 2024, the person concerned exchanged blows with a prisoner residing with him in the same room following a dispute over the landline phone. They were presented to the institution’s doctor and their place of accommodation was changed as a preventive measure to avoid a recurrence of the incident.
As for the allegation that the aforementioned prisoner intends to go on a hunger strike in protest once morest what he is being exposed to inside the institution, the statement continues, it is “a false allegation, as the person concerned has never submitted to the administration of this institution any written notification of entering into a hunger strike, noting that The institution’s management had transferred him to a solitary room based on his written request.”
