The story of Robin Hood will undergo another rethinking in cinema – the main role in the new film version of the adventures of the noble robber, sadly called “The Death of Robin Hood”, will be played by Hugh Jackman. He will be accompanied on the set by Jodie Comer. The director’s chair will be taken by Michael Sarnoski, director of “Pig” with Nicolas Cage and the prequel “A Quiet Place.” The project is being financed by Lyrical Media and produced by Ryder Picture Company.
Robin Hood, played by 55-year-old Jackman, will be far from the image created by Errol Flynn in the classic Hollywood film. The robber grew old and tired of his exploits (or rather, of numerous robberies and murders), and in the last skirmish in Sherwood Forest he almost went to the next world. Severely wounded Robin finds himself in the hands of a woman who may be his only chance of salvation.
Something similar has already been filmed before – in Richard Lester’s revisionist film Robin and Marian (1976), the aging Robin Hood, who finds himself on the verge of death, was played by Sean Connery.
Filming on The Death of Robin Hood is scheduled to begin in February 2025.
