Customers of the four largest banks in Latvia (Swedbank, SEB Banka, Banka Citadele and the Luminor Bank branch in Latvia) had a total of 7.923 million euros stolen over the nine months of 2023, with the customers themselves confirming the payments. Fraudsters continue their activities, so SEB Bank warns regarding another strategy invented by scammers.
“Attention! Fraudsters send emails to bank customers with information that the code calculator registration period has expired. This is not a letter from the bank, but an attempt by scammers to deceive data and lure money. We ask you not to enter your data into the links received in SMS or emails; under any circumstances, always critically evaluate SMS, letters and calls, where there are threats and an urgent decision must be made!” , writes the bank.
