Robert Lewandowski: “Is definitely out of the question to leave Barcelona”

He has been linked with Saudi clubs for a long time. But lately there have also been rumors that Atletico Madrid are showing interest.

However, the 35-year-old emphasizes once more that he has no intention of leaving Barcelona this summer.

– Saying goodbye (to Barcelona) is definitely out of the question for me (this summer). I feel physically well once more now. I had physical problems in the first half of the season. Things got better in 2024, Lewandowski told Germany’s Bild and continued:

This will continue for at least two more years.

– As long as I continue to feel as good as I do now and notice in training that no one is running away from me, I want to continue playing. Today I can say: This will continue for at least two more years. Only when I notice that I am no longer physically at peak level and am in pain would I start thinking. That is not the case.

Chasing a financially bigger contract is not on the agenda either.

– I haven’t cared regarding (Saudi Arabia) for a second so far. Neither Saudi Arabia nor the United States. It doesn’t make sense at the moment, says Lewandowski and continues:

I can definitely play at the highest level until 2026.

– Sometimes it’s regarding what my heart and my head say. At 38 years old and the pain comes, I have to ask myself: Do I even want to continue? But I don’t want to plan that far ahead. At the moment I say: I can definitely play at the highest level until 2026.

Barcelona bought the striker from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 for 45 million euros plus 5 million euros in bonuses.
