Nacon Revolution 5 Pro Review: A Game-changing PlayStation Controller Alternative

Living the life of a dedicated gamer can have its financial consequences. Spending money on gaming-focused tech and surviving on cheap microwave meals may not be the most adult-like lifestyle, but as a lifelong PlayStation fan, I have made some questionable financial decisions. Case in point: I willingly purchased not one, but two DualSense Edge controllers, only to now realize that I may never use them once more.

However, there is a new contender that has caught my attention – the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro. This officially licensed Sony controller has gradually become an obsession over the past few weeks. In my opinion, it outperforms the DualSense Edge in several key areas, although the DualSense still holds the upper hand in certain scenarios.

The Revolution 5 Pro reigns supreme when it comes to the number of parts included in the package compared to the DualSense Edge. Nacon’s gamepad offers a generous selection of adjustable sticks and a padded case. While I personally prefer the default sticks, the additional options provide a nice touch for those who want to switch things up.

One of the standout features of the Revolution 5 Pro is its Hall effect sensors on all the sticks, which ensures stick drift is never a problem. Having experienced stick drift with other controllers, specifically Joy-Cons, I appreciate Nacon’s attention to detail in this regard.
