From May 11 to 16, the cultural association L’Esquisse is organizing an exceptional exhibition on outsider art at the Galerie des Pénitents in Luzech, as part of the Alter Égaux festival.

Brut art is a term by which in 1945, the painter Jean Dubuffet designated the productions of self-taught artists. This exhibition will highlight some paintings by Boissor’s residents, who have a sensitivity that is particularly conducive to creation.

“Exempt from artistic culture, these people with an intellectual disability or a psychological illness, illustrate the world around them in original perspectives, directly appealing to our emotions,” underlines Marc-Antoine Gallice, president of l’Esquisse. We wish to demonstrate that disability can provide an enriching vision of our society and thus help to change our view of difference. »

Paintings, objects and poems

Karolinda will also exhibit several of her works in the heart of the gallery. The thwarted inspiration of this remarkable artist is expressed in a creative torrent made up of paintings, objects and poems. Kraft paper and acrylic paint, but also cardboard, fabrics, chalk and any material suitable for his productive frenzy. Its minimalist approach, the vigor of the line, the power of the shapes, the colorful palette and the influence of primitive art will mark visitors in search of originality.

A mini-festival will be held on the 12th of May

This exhibition is accompanied by a mini-festival which will take place on Sunday May 12 from 10 a.m., during which the association and numerous facilitators will offer workshops: drawing and painting where everyone can bring their artistic touch in the development of a collective fresco, clay and pottery on the wheel, but also percussion where around fifty instruments will be made available to the public, with singing and dancing.

At the Armand-Viré Museum from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., a conference-debate on art brut will be hosted by the philosopher Bernard Bénit, for those who wish to discover this movement from another angle. This great moment of sharing will end with fanfare during the opening at the Chapelle des Pénitents, from 6 p.m.
