Today, May 2, we celebrate Flag Day of the Republic of Poland. We proudly hang white and red flags in windows, on balconies and in front of our houses to celebrate our national symbolism. The Polish flag accompanies us in all important moments of life – during celebrations and events related to our history, as well as in days of mourning following the loss of outstanding and brave Poles, and in moments of emotion and joy.
During this holiday, you should remember certain rules, one of them is the difference between the flag and national colors. The flag of the Republic of Poland consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width, white at the top and red at the bottom, in the proportions 5:8. The common practice of placing inscriptions and drawings by fans watching sports competitions is only allowed on national colors. The latter do not have specific proportions.
It is also worth knowing that national colors can also be represented with a white and red bow or ribbon. They can be displayed, for example, on the lapel of a coat, jacket or jacket
We have been celebrating this holiday relatively recently, because it was established on February 20, 2004. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of this holiday. The choice of day was also not accidental, as World Polish Diaspora Day is also celebrated on the same day.
