Charging electric cars at Lidl stores is now faster and more convenient |  Business

It will be possible to pay for electricity, which will recharge the car’s battery while the customer shops in the store, using the Lidl Plus app.

Electric car charging stations are currently installed at seventeen Lidl stores in 11 Lithuanian cities. The retail chain continues to rapidly increase the number of electric car stops, it is planned that Lidl will double their number already next year.

“Many electric car drivers have come to love Lidl because of the great opportunity to save time and charge the car’s battery while shopping. The new payment method will make it even smoother and faster,” says Antanas Bubnelis, head of corporate affairs and communication at Lidl Lietuva.

Customers will only need to have the Lidl Plus mobile app and link it to their payment card once. After the charging is complete, the payment account will be available in the app.

At the charging stations near Lidl stores, it is possible to charge various types of electric cars – with both fast charging (DC) and slow charging (AC) connectors. Charging with a fast charging connection (DC) will cost 0.43 euros per kilowatt hour of electricity, while charging with a slow charging connection (AC) will cost 0.36 euros per kilowatt hour.

Customers who do not use the Lidl Plus app will continue to be able to pay for electric vehicle charging using their payment card, which will need to be entered on the dedicated website when charging begins.

Currently, Lidl has electric car charging stations at seventeen stores in Lithuania – five stations in Vilnius (S. Nėries st. 16, Gariūņu st. 66, Nemenčinės pl. 15, Barčių st. 1, Liepkalnio st. 102a), three in Kaunas ( Savanorių Str. 1, B. Brazdžionio Str. 23b) and one each in Šiauliai (Tilžės Str. 1D), in Palanga (Klaipėdos Str. 18) ), Gargždai (Darius ir Girėno st. 2), Rokišky (Respublikos st. 113), Kaišiadorys (Gedimino st. 135A), Nemenčinė (Vilniaus st. 42) and Alytus (Likiškėlių st. 31).
