Poland – A search party discovered the remains of five people, including a newborn baby, during excavations at the Hermann Goering House on the grounds of Adolf Hitler’s former headquarters in Poland.
This was reported by Der Spiegel magazine, and stated that this discovery was made by a group of German and Polish archaeologists on the territory of the “Wolf’s Lair” site – Hitler’s headquarters and the command complex of the German Nazi army, located in the Warmian-Masuria Voivodeship in northern Poland. In the same area is also located the headquarters of the Nazi Minister of Aviation Goering. During excavation there, human remains without limbs were discovered.
According to the article, under the old wooden floor of Goering’s house were found the skeletons of five people: three adults, a teenager, and an infant, all without arms and feet.
One of the group members believes that the bodies may have been buried following the house was built, because if it had been done earlier, the workers would have discovered the remains. But there is a possibility that the bodies were buried following the end of World War II.
The magazine noted that the Polish Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation.
It is noteworthy that the “Wolf’s Lair” headquarters was a complex of more than eighty hideouts and fortified buildings in the forest. It was located on a protected area of 250 hectares and was surrounded by barbed wire fences, minefields, watchtowers, machine guns, and anti-aircraft guns.
German forces fled the site in January 1945 following blowing up the bunkers, as advancing Red Army units approached.
