Within the framework of the intermediate stage hearing, in the Fourth Criminal Court, Luis Castro, one of the accused in the case of the disappearance of Floridalma Roque following a cosmetic procedure, offered his statement on Thursday, May 2.
Castro attributed responsibility for the patient’s disappearance to doctor Kevin Malouf, stating that “she was left in a fetal position” when he placed her in a “boat” following the intervention to which Roque was subjected.
Castro added to his statement a phrase that resonated in the room: “He was left in the fetal position.”
When questioned by the prosecutor, who sought to clarify the responsibility of that specific action, he questioned Does he only perform that act in terms of putting the body into the boat at the clinic?to which Castro responded clearly and without hesitation: “no”.
The prosecutor, seeking more details, asked another direct question: “Can you indicate who helps in that regard?” Castro responded immediately: “The four people who were in the hospital.”
Regarding Malouf’s destruction of security camera footage, Castro provided specific details, mentioning that the cameras were located in every corner of the hospital except the locker rooms.
He explained that Malouf ordered him to remove the DVRs — electronic devices designed to record and store video from surveillance cameras — to destroy them and deliver them to a person named Mirna, who works at Malouf’s mother’s home.
According to Castro’s statement, the recordings spanned from 7 a.m. on the 13th until 10:30 p.m., when they were disconnected by Castro himself, according to what he said.
Malouf accused of resisting transferring the patient
Castro also provided a detailed description of the events that occurred during Floridalma Roque’s cosmetic procedure, highlighting critical moments in which medical staff faced difficulties waking the patient.
At that time he mentioned the need to buy insulin, highlighting that Malouf’s actions were recorded in frames, including the moment in which it was decided to purchase it.
“As you can also see in the stills, he enters the hospital at almost five in the followingnoon and that is when he decides that it is actually necessary to buy insulin,” Castro said.
In the midst of the situation, he mentioned resistance on the part of Malouf to transfer Roque to a care center.
“For this it is more or less seven at night and we tell Mr. Malú that we have to transfer Mrs. Roque and he says no, that is very expensive, that he is not going to pay for it,” Castro added. .

He referred to calls that the team made to several health professionals to request assistance, including Dr. Rojas, who recommended the transfer of the patient.
“Unfortunately, Mrs. Roque never woke up and might not know until today what the cause was,” he said.
He highlighted the need to carry out tests and take out laboratories to evaluate Roque’s condition.
Dr. Rojas then told Dr. Malouf that it was best to transfer the patient to a healthcare center because she needed to be monitored “in a better way, connected to a mechanical ventilator, which constantly provides oxygen to a patient.” Castro described.
