By 68 votes in favor, 61 once morest and 4 abstentions, the chamber of the Chamber of Deputies approved the agreement presented by the UDI bench through which concern is expressed regarding the educational policies promoted by the government.
As described in the document, they “have been poorly executed by the current Minister of Education.” Likewise, it is estimated that they are seriously violating the right to education of thousands of students. Particularly, it targets the middle class and the most vulnerable sectors.
It is noted that, more than a month into the 2024 school year, 880 students still do not have an educational establishment. This occurs at the national level, although there is a greater incidence in the north of the country. Another piece of information that complements this situation is the confirmation of 5,800 missing license plates at the beginning of the process. This, in the authors’ opinion, demonstrates the “failure of the school admission system.”
Additionally, it is accused that, since its implementation, this policy “has not been able to solve the permanent shortage of places for basic and secondary education.”
The agreement also criticizes the system that Mineduc implemented this year through the “Sign up on the List” platform.
With this policy, the authors assert, the right to equality before the law enshrined in the Constitution is violated.
