THE end of the competition for the Spanish La Liga title is getting closer. Leaders Real Madrid have the opportunity to party early this week to win the title from Barcelona.
El Real has the opportunity to secure the title this weekend when they host bottom team Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu, Saturday (4/5). On paper, Madrid is stronger than being beaten in the last 19 matches.
Los Blancos benefit from playing at home even though coach Carlo Ancelotti is likely to rotate. The reason is, Madrid will still play the second leg of the Champions League semi-final once morest Bayern Munich next week.
Meanwhile, Cadiz, who are struggling to get out of the relegation zone, have never won in the last three matches with two defeats and one draw. If they successfully win once morest Cadiz, Madrid will increase their pawns to 87 or be 14 points ahead of Barcelona in second place.
Two hours later, Los Blancos will wait for the results from Barcelona who visit Girona headquarters. If the Blaugrana slip into defeat, Madrid will seal the title because the point difference will not be overtaken with the remaining four matches played.
Barcelona has the potential to postpone Madrid’s party if they win at home to Girona. However, Girona, who is in third place in the standings, is not a team that is easy to beat.

Girona has proven that in the first meeting in Catalunya they were able to surprise Barca with a 4-2 win.
Barca is in new spirits following coach Xavi Hernandez opened up regarding the possibility of not resigning at the end of the season. Xavi said his players did not give their best before he announced his departure last January.
However, following winning 4-2 over Valencia last week, the squad’s mentality has improved once more.
“We are trying to sue them. This is a historic club. My decision to say goodbye when it was my intention to do so. “Maybe they (players) can give more,” said Xavi.
