The visit to Chios of the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, continued, who arrived on the island on the followingnoon of Friday, April 26, as part of his multi-day tour of the Aegean islands.
The day started with the president of SYRIZA-PS discussing the problems that have arisen with second chance schools.
In particular, he was informed by the vice-president of the Panhellenic Association of Principals of Second Chance Schools regarding the problem that has arisen with KYA, which excludes these schools from school transportation, with the result that the students travel by their own means, bearing unaffordable costs. “The social base to which this program is addressed is not close to the privatization of education for this reason and was excluded,” commented Mr. Kasselakis.
St. commented on the case of fixed-term Border Guards for whom joint service is not provided for, as a result of which a family expecting a child is forced to live separately and there is the possibility of unemployment for one of the two parents. Kasselakis.
“We need to highlight this issue not only because it is the moral thing to do for this family but mainly because this story shows how immoral the state is sometimes. The state can be so inhumane in order to achieve supposedly fiscal goals that it tells you “you guys with fixed-term contracts live in great insecurity” and basically your colleague can’t start a family for you.
Residents of the island gave Stefanos Kasselakis a warm welcome and heartfelt wishes as he walked through the central and commercial streets of Chios. “All together we will build the future”, answered the president of SYRIZA-PS. “People want help, they’ve reached the amen. We want what you say to happen, not like the others”, pointed out a merchant of the island to Mr. Kasselakis, with him replying “this is how the right rules in Greece”.
Citizens also underlined their appreciation for Admiral Apostolakis, the SYRIZA-PS state deputy accompanies the president on the tour as he knows in depth the issues of island Greece.
Two special moments were the meeting with a mother who approached Mr. Kasselakis conveying to the president of SYRIZA the greetings of her son who served together at the Artillery Training Center in Thebes and the meeting with a Super Puma pilot who asked to be photographed with him. “You are a pilot in a Super Puma so the honor to be photographed with you is mine alone.”
