Guinea: General Doumbouya creates an armored group of the Mobile Gendarmerie

In a decree read this Wednesday, May 1, 2024, General Mamadi Doumbouya announced the creation of an armored mobile gendarmerie group.

According to the decree read on national television, this new Gendarmerie unit will be based in Conakry. Its missions are:

-Ensure throughout the national territory, the maintenance and restoration of order;

-Participate in the fight once morest terrorism, organized crime and the protection of sensitive sites;

-Support or support the law enforcement and intervention units of the National Gendarmerie in degraded situations;

-Provide support to Gendarmerie units during industrial or technological accidents, judicial police operations, escorts in degraded environments, disastrous events;

-Participate in the operational defense of the territory;

-Participate in external operations within national or multinational systems in which Guinea participates.

Placed under the direct authority of the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, the GBGN will be led by a Commander and a Deputy Commander. It will also have a secretariat; an operations and training cell; a logistics cell; a technical cell; arms and ammunition; a transmission, observation and intelligence cell; a treasury; an infirmary and armored squadrons.
