S. Skvernelis’ party will not consider its millionaire: it will wait for the decision of the “relevant institutions”.

This week in a published study “Siena” revealed that the member of the board of the Vilnius branch of the Democratic Union, the president of the “Helios group” V. Stankevičius created his business empire together with the Bulgarian millionaire Ognian Bozarov. The partners of “Sienas” revealed in December that the offshore company managed by O. Bozarov transferred a solid sum of money to the authority of the criminal world, convicted for organizing the murder of Croatian journalist Ivo Pukaničius.

In addition, V. Stankevičius and his foreign partners carried out a number of financial transactions with signs of tax evasion. Several companies of “Helios group” paid millions of sums to V.Stankevičius and his partners as loans or for “service contracts”, in which the provision of the named services raises serious doubts.

However, the Democratic Union is in no hurry to discuss V. Stankevičius’ further future in the ranks of the party. According to L. Savicka, one of the leaders of the Democratic Union, the party will wait for the “evaluation of the relevant institutions” to make sure of the reliability of the information.

“Our party has certainly demonstrated with its previous recent decisions that it usually reacts strictly and quickly if evidence-based information is confirmed. But I think that the first thing we should wait for is the assessment of the relevant institutions,” L. Savickas told “Siena”.

S. Skvernelis’ fellow party assured that he would not evaluate the information that appeared.

“That information is new, I haven’t heard anything like that before. (…) These are the relevant institutions, I think, will be able to evaluate and make some decisions”, repeated L. Savickas.

The member of the Seimas did not comment on the party’s business connections or tax affairs. “I think that the authorities can assess how true that information is, how much it is factually based. And I think that here, in contrast to other cases, it is not so simple – without being a tax expert or some other responsible institution to evaluate this kind of information”, L. Savickas pondered.

Party leader S. Skvernelis previously told “Siena” that V. Stankevičius “has no place” in the party, also noting that he will wait until the information made public in “Siena’s” investigation is based on “some factual circumstances”.

The property of V.Stankevičius is valued at around 50 million. amount of euros. For the millionaire, the Union of Democrats became the third political force with which he sought the mandate of a member of the Vilnius City Council. In previous terms of office, V. Stankevičius entered the council as a representative of the “Order and Justice” party and as a candidate from Artūrs Zuokas’ list.
