More and more solar power is flowing into Upper Austria’s power grids: the reason is the ongoing installation of new PV systems. According to network operator Netz OÖ, April was the peak month for electricity generation from photovoltaics since records began. The peak day was April 27th with a generation of 10.2 million kilowatt hours. At the end of April, more than 76,300 systems with a total output of almost 1.1 gigawatt peak were in operation.
The network provider APG has also pointed out an exceptionally high level of electricity production from renewable sources. In March, renewables (wind, water, sun) were able to feed in 4,183 gigawatt hours of electricity, covering 93 percent of Austria’s electricity consumption.
