Winner of four NBA titles, Stephen Curry, Friday (26/4) WIB, received the NBA Clutch Player of the Year award in recognition of his performance when the game was in a tight situation at the end of the match.
Curry leads the NBA in points scored in the final minutes, described as five points or fewer with 5 minutes remaining, with 189 points.
He is averaging 49.6%, including 45.7% on three-pointers, in the final minutes of games.
Curry’s heroics in the final minutes to score the winning points for the Warriors, including a shot from 33 meters when the Warriors beat the Phoenix Suns on February 10 and a lay-up in the match once morest the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA play-in game.
“You have to dare to fail,” Curry said following he was announced as winning the award.
“I don’t know if it clicked or something else but, at that moment, I had the confidence to say, ‘I’m ready to do whatever it takes,” he continued.
Curry is the second player to win the award following the Sacramento Kings’ De’Aaron Fox last year.
Curry is one of three finalists for the award along with Chicago Bulls DeMar DeRozan and Oklahoma City Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. (AFP/Z-1)
