Asunción, IP Agency.- A 59-year-old patient with breast cancer became the first to receive full chemotherapy at the Concepción regional hospital. This fact marks a milestone in the decentralization of this type of health services of considerable complexity.
She subsequently underwent a modified radical mastectomy by health service medical professionals.
The surgical procedure, which involved the complete removal of the mammary gland, the underlying pectoral muscles and the lymph nodes in the armpit, was performed by a medical team composed of Dr. Juan Recalde, general surgeon and oncologist; the assistant doctors Carlos Jara, general surgeon and oncologist and Luz Mancuello, general surgeon; the anesthetist Lic. Diogenes Rondelli and the treating clinician Dr. Moisés González, oncologist.
The woman, who has already been discharged, is one of the first patients to undergo chemotherapy entirely at the Regional Hospital.
