The defendants in the case are being tried for possible assistance to another state to act once morest Lithuania, as well as for public approval of international and Soviet crimes, their denial or gross belittling.
“It should be the first hearing in which the court will take up this case,” court representative Lina Nemeikaitė told BNS.
The court was supposed to open the case in January, but then it was not possible to do so, because E. Švenčionienė did not come to the hearing due to illness.
As the General Prosecutor’s Office announced last December, the data collected during the pre-trial investigation allow us to reasonably state that E.Švenčionienė and K.Juraitis, members of the liquidated association “International Good Neighborly Forum”, acting in a group of accomplices, helped Russia more than once in 2022 in Lithuania, Belarus and Russia and Belarus and their organizations to act once morest Lithuania.
E. Švenčionienė is also accused of publicly approving international and USSR crimes, denying them or grossly belittling them.
According to the investigation, she, acting together with the accused V. Ivanov, took part in a program regarding the events of January 13 at the beginning of last year.
E. Švenčionienė, K. Juraitis and V. Ivanovas deny their guilt.
The Criminal Code provides for deprivation of liberty from two to seven years for assisting another state to act once morest Lithuania.
