Georgia and China have determined when visa-free travel for Georgians will begin

Citizens of Georgia will be able to visit China without visas from May 28, when the corresponding agreement will enter into force.

This was reported by the project, as “European Truth” writes SLEEP.

The Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, Alexander Khvtisiashvili, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, Zhou Jian, who officially handed over to the Georgian side a note specifying the procedure for visa-free entry into force.

As a result of the agreement, citizens of Georgia will be able to stay in China for 30 consecutive days without a visa from the end of May.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia stated that the visa-free regime with China “is another reflection of the strategic partnership established last year between the two countries, and another significant tangible result of cooperation.”

“The visa-free regime will contribute to the rapprochement of two friendly countries and peoples, the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation, the deepening of people-to-people contacts, tourism, cultural and trade-economic ties,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said.

Chinese citizens can also stay in Georgia for 30 days. The decision was made by the government of Irakli Garibashvili in September 2023.

We will remind you that last year on July 31, the Administration of the Government of Georgia published a joint statement on establishment of strategic partnership between Georgia and China.

The Georgian opposition criticized this agreement, and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili had to justify himself that deepening relations with China does not hinder the country’s European integration.
