The group of Lipigas companies announced a surprise name change, with the aim of maintaining the same name in all the South American countries where it operates: Chile, Peru and Colombia.
This was confirmed by the general manager of the group, Angel Mafucci, following the company’s general meeting. With this, the company seeks to strengthen its multinational positioning, in addition to highlighting its diversification beyond its main business, gas.
What is the new name of Empresas Lipigas?
Currently, Empresas Lipigas operates in Chile with the name of Lippis y Evol. Meanwhile in Peruis called Limagas; and in Colombia is called Chilco.
Given this diversity of names, the company intends to unify it into just one for these three countries, which is why it is now called Lipiandezreferring to the Andes Mountains that cross the three nations.
Thus, Lipiandes will be the name that represents the company in the three nations, all with the idea of grouping them into a single organization and thus reinforce the message that they are transnational.
Likewise, the decision has been made because 24% of Ebidta (a financial indicator that lets us know if a company is profitable or not) comes from Peru and Colombia, so Growth has reached these two countries. The goal is for the share to rise to 25% by 2030.
“Greening” gas: Lipiande’s new goal
The company also highlighted that it seeks to generate a “greener” of gas (natural gas and green hydrogen), in addition to expanding electrical business.
Therefore, the idea is not to have a name related to gas like Lipigas, but rather a name that allows them open to new markets.
“On one side, We are making good progress in strengthening our presence in the Andean region; and on the other, We continue to market gas as our main businesstogether with promoting the development of more sustainable energy with the supply of renewable gases by 2030,” said the CEO.
Finally, they highlighted that they are working on offering gas in use cylinder carbon neutral housing until 2028.
